Benjamin Kwadwo Appiah is a development practitioner and independent consultant with over 12 years of experience in project management, NGO leadership, innovative financing, monitoring and evaluation and community empowerment. He holds an MSc in NGO Studies and Management from the University of Cape Coast and a bachelor’s degree in Management Studies, complemented by certifications in M&E, climate adaptation, project management, and leadership.
As Executive Director of Freeworld International LBG, Benjamin has successfully led donor-funded initiatives funded by EU, GIZ, SOS CV Netherlands, Digital Defenders/Hivos, Digital Lift, GivingJoy Inc., and Youth Challenge International, impacting over 20,000 people across five regions in Ghana. His expertise spans women’s economic empowerment through Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) methodology and Entrepreneurship, youth development, health and HIV prevention, governance strengthening, and digital resilience transformation.
Benjamin previously worked as Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager for Sabre Trust and a Project Assistant with WUSC Ghana. He has delivered consultancy and training services to local assemblies, universities, youth networks, and NGOs. He is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and a GEDA Fellow, he is recognised for his leadership, facilitation skills, proposal writing capacity and passion for sustainable community development. He is dedicated to driving social impact through innovative, evidence-based interventions.
